Government Affairs Committee

The Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee is instrumental in the development and implementation of the Chamber's legislative agenda. The committee meets monthly to formulate the Chamber's annual policy agenda, and weekly during the 90-day Maryland General Assembly session.

In addition, a wide variety of experts on topics of importance to the business community visit the committee.

The committee is chaired by Cliff Ishmael, Strategic H.R.

    Economic Revitalizations
    Manages the Chamber's role in promoting economic revitalization programs and initiatives for Baltimore County

    Leads the discussion on the impact of education on the business climate in Baltimore County

    Subcommittee Chair: John Hayden
    Whiteford Taylor & Preston

    Fiscal Responsibility/Energy
    Educates the committee on the current energy environment and issues, and steers the discussion of energy policy that affects the business climate in the County and the region

    Subcommittee Chair: Brian Kick
    Reliant Energy

    Health Care/Insurance
    Develops the framework and content of the Chamber's policy on health care and insurance issues from the standpoint of business.

    Alternative Benefits

    Taxation
    Advises the committee on all aspects of state and local tax laws and policies, as well as monitoring legislation affecting the fiscal health of Baltimore County and the region

    Identifies and recommends specific transportation initiatives to champion and advises the committee about overall transportation policies.
